Calendar Of Events @ Artsplace

November 17, 2007 Artsplace Ponca City and the Ponca City Art Center will host a workshop on woodcuts with Betty Bowen on Saturday, November 17, 2007 from 10 AM to 3 PM. The workshop will be held at the Ponca City Art Center, 819 East Central, and Ponca City, OK.

Explore the richness and graphic qualities of the woodcut. Using a 6" X 8" Japanese plywood called Shina, Japanese tools, and an assortment of papers including Mulberry, Kitakata, Shin Torinoko and Kozo, participants will learn to carve ink and print a woodcut.

Betty Bowen is a printmaker, painter and teacher living in Cushing, OK. She received a BA in Art from Oklahoma City University in 1983, studied at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill from 1983-1985 and received an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1990.

The registration fee for this workshop is $50. The fee for members of Artsplace Ponca City and the Ponca City Art Center is $40. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants. All materials will be provided. Participants may bring a simple 6" x 8" drawing or toner-printed photocopy. There will be a lunch break. Participants may bring a lunch or visit nearby restaurants.
